This morning there has been reporting on the impact of the Renters (Reform) Bill on the rental market.
The Bill will ensure a fairer private rented sector for all and there is no evidence to suggest these changes will lead to landlords leaving the market.
It will deliver the biggest changes to the sector in 30 years, and will meet our manifesto commitment to abolish Section 21 no-fault evictions.
The Bill is progressing through Parliament and we will continue to work across the sector to ensure it passes into law as soon as possible.
A Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities spokesperson said:
“There is no evidence to suggest our Renters (Reform) Bill will lead to landlords leaving the sector. In fact, the number of rental properties has doubled since 2004 and continues to be relatively stable since.
“The Bill will deliver a fairer rental sector for both landlords and tenants.”
